Ben Alexander McDowell, II

Hortense- Ben Alexander McDowell, II, 48 of Hortense, passed away early Saturday morning (May 4, 2024) at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick.

Born in Brunswick, GA., his parents are Ben Alexander McDowell and Lorene Callaway Miller, both of Hortense. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lambert and Audrey Callaway; paternal grandparents, Frank and Thelma Lee McDowell; and a nephew, A.J. McDowell; and his father-in-law, Captain Billy Ipock.

Ben was of the Baptist Faith. He was a Commercial Fisherman and enjoyed racing, mechanicing, shrimping and loved his family and his grandbabies.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Davis McDowell, of Hortense; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ben Alexander McDowell, III (Jordan), of Hortense, Jacob McDowell (Britney), of Raybon, Kayleb McDowell (Breanna), of Hoboken; five grandchildren, Hudson Alexander McDowell, Kayden Andrew McDowell, Ivey Grace McDowell, Karter Lamar McDowell, and Baby Girl McDowell on the way; brother, Adam McDowell, of Hortense; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Leean McDowell, Britney Hendrix (Anthony), father and stepmother, Ben Alexander McDowell (Faye); mother and stepfather, Lorene Miller (John “Coochie”), all of Hortense; special nieces, Emmalee Howell (Austin), of Jesup, Natalee Lee (Caleb), of Hortense, and Melody McDowell, also of Hortense. Also several other relatives and a host of friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday (May 9, 2024) at 6PM at Bay Harbor Brantley Church of God with Bro. Jason Rhodes officiating.
