Alyssa Shea Young, 14, of Blackshear passed away Wednesday morning, February 11, 2026, at Wolfson’s Hospital in Jacksonville after a sudden illness.
Born in Savannah, GA to Kelly and Samantha Aldridge Young, she made Blackshear her home all of her life. Alyssa was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Waycross and attended Gilchrist Park Church of God of Prophecy in Waycross. She was in the 8th grade at Pierce County Middle School and was in the band. In 7th grade she served on Student Council. Alyssa always had a smile no matter her health problems, was very brave and a fighter. She loved to make people laugh, sing karoke, fishing and especially mudbogging. Alyssa had the biggest smile and brightest eyes. She always loved working with her daddy, and was a mother hen to her little sister, Addie and all the cheer girls.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Floyd Young, and her maternal grandfather, James “Winky” Wendell Aldridge, Jr.; one uncle, Lee Frye.
Survivors include her parents, Kelly and Samantha Aldridge Young of Blackshear; sister, Addie Young of Blackshear; maternal grandmother, Susan Pritchard Aldridge of Blackshear; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Virginia Frye of Nahunta; aunts and uncles, Chris and Julie Aldridge of Dixie Union, Ashley and Runt Lloyd of Hickox, Kala and Joshua Kruger of Jesup, Gene and Fairiby Frye of Waycross, Hollie Williams of Pelion, SC, and Tammy and Bob Williams of Waycross; adopted sisters, Satilla and Annagail Westberry of Blackshear; many great aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, February 13, 2026, from 6 pm – 8 pm at Hart Funeral Home, Blackshear.
A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon, February 14, 2026, at 2 pm at Destination Church in Blackshear with Rev. Eric Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Waters Cemetery in Blackshear.
Pallbearers will be Kelly and Samantha Young, Ernest Frye, Chris Aldridge, Gene Frye, Landon Lloyd, Cleve Pritchard, Satilla Westberry, and Annagail Westberry.
The family requests her Pierce County Middle School 8th grade class to serve as Honorary Pallbearers and should meet at the church by 1:45 pm Saturday for the service.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, GA.
