Alva Janice Rowell

Nahunta – Alva Janice Rowell, 83, of Nahunta passed Thursday morning (May 23, 2019) after an extended illness.

Born in Knights, FL her parents were Forest Cecil Barker and Jennie Irene Vandiveer Barker. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Malbra Rogers Rowell; 3 brothers, Raymond Barker, Stanley Barker, and Leslie Barker; and a sister, Hazel Coleman.

Alva was a retired secretary, a member of Countryside Baptist Church in Dover, FL and a member of Lulaton Baptist Church in Nahunta. She loved genealogy, writing, and researching the history of churches.

She is survived by those who love her, a daughter, Patty Rowell of Nahunta; a granddaughter and her spouse, Deanna & Vien Lu of Savannah and their children, Jordan Lu and Devon Lu; great grandchildren, Dalton Rowell, Kimberlynn Rowell, Dylan Rowell, Marie Knecht, and Bryan Cox and their mother Julia Rowell; several great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday (May 25, 2019) at 10 am at Smyrna Cemetery with Rev. Steve Beal officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Rowell, Dalton Rowell, Kimberlynn Rowell, Bryan Cox, Jordan Lu, and Vien Lu.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
