William 'Junior' Barney Lane

February 7, 1927 — September 9, 2014

Hoboken-William Barney "Junior" Lane, 87 of Hoboken, passed away Tuesday evening (September 9, 2014) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Hoboken, GA., his parents were William Lawton Lane and Mattie Williams Lane. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lane; and 6 sisters, Edna Lane, Thelma Lee, Lois Coad, Hazel Byrd, Helen Crews, and Joyce Johns. Junior was employed with Civil Services in Hinesville, he served in the United States Army. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing and playing guitar, and he loved talking with people. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Elizabeth Thomas Lane, of Hoboken; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, William Lanis Lane (Ellen), of Hoboken, Albert Loren Lane (Edna), of Hoboken; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura Elizabeth Driggers (Nick), of Albany, GA.; 7 grandchildren, Christa Lane Cravey (Clay), of Manor, GA, Will Shot Lane (Lindsey), of Moultrie, GA, Casey Lane, Cassy Lane Nettles, Jessica Lane Simmons, all of Hoboken, Kaleb Driggers, of Texas, and Kelsey Driggers, of Oklahoma; 4 great grandchildren, Lacey and Laney Simmons, Loren Jean Nettles, and Mesa Lane; a sister, Doris Griffin, of Waycross. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held at his residence, 2284 Hwy. 82 Hoboken, GA 31542, Thursday (September 11, 2014) starting at 6PM. A Graveside Service will be held Friday (September 12, 2014) at 4PM at High Bluff Cemetery with Rev. Mike Yawn officiating. Pallbearers will be Jefferey Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, Alan Lane, John Thomas, Bobby Byrd, and Rocky Johns. Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert Thomas, Kendall Thomas, James Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Richard Thomas, Harry Lee, Larry Lee, Billy Lee, Mike Lee, George Lee, Larry Lane, Danny Lane, Michael Johns, Jerry Johns, Jody Crews, and Donnie Griffin. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Satilla Hospice or Southeast Cancer Society in care of Linda Henderson at P.O. Box 91 Hoboken, GA. 31542. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
