William H Gillis,Jr

Hickox-William “Bill” Haward Gillis, Jr., 80, of Nahunta passed away Sunday evening (July 12, 2020) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Gainesville, FL. his parents were William Haward Gillis, Sr. and Kathyrn Dixon Gillis.

Mr. Bill retired after many years in the insurance business. He was a volunteer Ranger with Laura Walker State Park golf course and spent many days in Metter, GA. with his brother Tommy playing golf.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Karen Hendrix Gillis, of Hickox; son and daughter-in-law, Brett Gillis (Cat) of Euless, TX; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Jones (Matthew) of Jacksonville, FL., Cris Driver (Rick) of Bryceville, FL., Caren Grey (Mike) of Jacksonville, FL.; 4 grandchildren, Parker, Preston, Payton Jones, of Jacksonville, FL., and Ricky Driver of Bryceville, FL.; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy Gillis (Sara) of Metter, GA., Don Gillis (DeLisa) of McRae, GA. also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the Family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday afternoon (July 15, 2020) starting at 1PM at Hickox Baptist Church.

A funeral Service will be held Wednesday afternoon (July 15, 2020) at 2PM at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Hendrix and Rev. Jamie Giddens officiating.

Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Parker Jones, Preston Jones, Ricky Driver, Connor Gillis, A.J. Hendrix, and Tanner Clark.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
