Mr. Ronald Hendrix, Jr., 64, of Hortense died early Wednesday morning (September 30, 2009) at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick after an extended illness. Born in Jesup, GA his parents are the late Ronald Hendrix, Sr. and Betty Herrin Hendrix of Nahunta. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Strickland; a brother, Ricky Hendrix; maternal grandparents, Joe "Pappy" and Lula Mae Herrin; and paternal grandparents, Edmond L. and Leila K. Hendrix. He retired from Gillman Paper Company as a powerhouse operator and was member of Hickox Baptist Church. He loved fishing and was a member of Hickox Fishing Club and BEW Union Local 741. Survivor include his wife, Penny Hendrix of Hortense; four children, Marty & Angie Hendrix, Dean & Sharon Hendrix, Chad Hendrix all of Hickox and Jody & Jody Hendrix of Yulee, FL.; 6 grandchildren, Easton Edwards of Moore Haven, FL., Kelly & Cory Griffin of Hawaii, Leah Hendrix of Hoboken, Ryan Hendrix, Shane Hendrix both of Kingsland and Ezra Strickland of Hickox; mother, Betty Herrin Hendrix of Nahunta; 4 brothers and sisters, Diane & Julian Willis, Mike & Lois Hendrix of Hickox, Lulu & Corbet Wilson of Nahunta and Debbie & Cesar Rodriguez of Hinesville; mother of his children and former wife, Janice Hendrix of Nahunta; also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday (October 1, 2009) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Funeral service will be held Friday (October 2, 2009) at 2PM at Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hendrix, Rev. David Jacobs, Rev. Ray McMillan and Mr. John Pafford officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Hickox.
