Hortense- Robert Eugene Oliver, Sr., 52, of Hortense died suddenly Friday evening (December 14, 2012) at his residence after a brief illness. Born in Waycross, GA his parents are John & Mary Lee Strickland Oliver, Sr. Robert was a mechanist for Atlantic Engineered Products and attended Atkinson Church of God of Prophecy. He also loved to fish, go to ball games and loved the Atlanta Braves. Survivors include his wife Cheryl Oliver of Hortense; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Oliver, Jr. (Sheena) of Nahunta; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer & Chris Wilson of Nahunta and Sarah Oliver of Hortense; 4 grandchildren, Kayla Wilson, Corey Wilson, Alyssa Wilson and Ethan Oliver; his parents, John & Mary Oliver, Sr. of Hortense; a brother & sister-in-law, John & Ruby Oliver, Jr. of Hortense; 3 sisters & brothers-in-law, Mary Ann & Willis Trowell of Hortense, Diane & Darren Jones of Brunswick and Brenda & Jeff Ashley of Nahunta; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday evening (December 16, 2012) from 6-9PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon (December 17, 2012) at 2PM at Atkinson Church of God of Prophecy with Bishop Raymond Willis and Rev. R.C. Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Rivers Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Revis Chesser, Junior Oliver, Michael Trowell, Johnathan Dampier, Ben Duggan and Ronnie Oliver. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
