Rev. Joseph Frankland 'Frank' Jacobs

Nahunta-Rev. Joseph Frankland "Frank" Jacobs, 82 of Nahunta, passed away at his residence Sunday (October 19, 2014) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Hoboken, GA., his parents were Owen Levy Jacobs and Rachel Evelyn Sapp Jacobs. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Pearl Chesser, Mary Evelyn, and Ivey Jane Jacobs; and 7 brothers, Burie, Alonzo, Lester, Gibson, Talmadge, Homer Eldon, and Henry Jacobs. Rev. Jacobs loved woodworking, gardening, bird watching, photography, puzzles, and was the pastor of Community Christian Church. He served in the United States Navy. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Marie Herrin Jacobs, of Nahunta; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe Jacobs (Danette), of Brunswick; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Pam Wilson (Winton), of Raybon, and Joyce Strickland (Gary), of Hortense; 6 grandchildren, Adam Wilson, Andy Wilson (Alisha), Emma Steedley (Chris), of Caney Bay, Jamie Tucker (Hank), of Hortense; Colby Strickland (Kristen), of Blackshear, and Ari Strickland, of Athens; 8 great grandchildren, Jackson and Jake Steedley, Aydan and Kynley Tucker, Greyson and Cooper Strickland, Owen and Evan Wilson. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (October 21, 2014) at 5:30PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday (October 22, 2014) at 2PM at Community Christian Church with Rev. Leon Wilson and Rev. Charles Florey officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Bowers, Joey Bowers, Jordan Wilson, Tanner Wilson, Buck Crews, and Brad Herrin. Honorary pallbearers will be the former employees of Brunswick Pulp Land Co.
