Mack David Thrift

Hickox- Mack David "M.D." Dave Thrift, Jr., 86 of Hickox, passed away Friday (June 14, 2013) at Bayview Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born in Charlton County, his parents were Mack David and Laura Dell Nazworth Thrift, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Erma Juanita McClain Thrift; a daughter, Cheryl Darlene Thrift; a granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Williams, two brothers, George Brunson Thrift, and Irsky T. Thrift; two sisters, Thelma Crews, and Catherine Morris; and his step-mother, Edna Johns Thrift. M.D. worked many years as Superintendent of Dixie Rd. Builders in Waycross. He loved tinkering on machines, digging ponds, and dirt work, and he was a member of Winokur Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Raynelle Padgett Thrift, of Hickox; 6 children, Mack David Thrift III, of Hickox, Donna Kay Thrift, of Waycross, Ricky Dale Thrift, of Waycross, Gary Brunson Thrift, of Yulee, Elise Hendrix (Benny), of Fernandina, and Laura Reed (Harry), of Fernandina; 11 grandchildren, Scot Eunice (Jeannett), of Hoboken, Kristie Eunice, of Waycross, Jason Williams (Sarah), of Oak Island, NC., Matt Thrift (Sarah), of Waycross, Josh Thrift, of Waycross, Mandy Sutter (Todd), of Hilliard, Terry Thrift (Amy), of Fernandina, Lucas Hale, of Fernandina, Daniel Thrift, of Fernandina, and Jennifer Thrift Hines (Chris), of Pensicola, and Joseph Reed, of Fernandina; 14 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Inez Reddish, of Hinesville, GA, Alcene Brown, of Morrow, GA, Loutrelle Chesser (Bill), of Folkston, and Carolyn Hewitt (Lloyd), of Folkston. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday evening (June 16, 2013) from 6PM-9PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Monday morning (June 17, 2013) at 11AM at Winokur Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Waycross. Pallbearers will be Paul Smith, Jimmy Myers, Don Harris, Wallace Crews, Jimmy Beckam, Tony Grantham, and Fred Albritton. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
