John Willis

Waycross-John Wendell Willis, 72 of Waycross, passed away Sunday ( April 14, 2013) at St. Vincent Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL after an extended illness. Born in Raybon, GA his parents were George Washington and Verdie Lewis Willis. He is also preceded in death by 4 brothers, J.O Willis, Steve Willis, Bozo Willis & Frank Willis. John was a machinist for CSX railroad, served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. Also he loved fishing, watching grey hound racing and driving a taxi cab. Survivors include2 children, Elizabeth Willis D'Souza and Scott Willis both of Waycross; 2 grandchildren, Carrin Allen(Dexter) of Fresno, CA and John Tucker of Waycross; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul & Ramona Willis of St. Simons, and Robert & Glenda Willis of Hoboken; 3 sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Lou Kick of Smyrna, Sandra & Maurice Thomas of Palm Beach Shores, FL, and Ella Mae Wilson of Blackshear; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (April 16, 2013) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday afternoon (April 17, 2013) at 2PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Hilton Morgan and Rev. Leon Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Raybon with Military honors. Pallbearers will be Darren Crews, Andy Willis, Chip Kick, J.B Willis, Jullian Willis and Michael Meyer. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Hall. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
