Hattie 'Idell' Herrin

December 3, 1925 — February 6, 2014

Hickox - Hattie "Idell" Hickox Herrin, 88 of Hickox Community, passed away Thursday morning (February 6, 2014) at her son's residence in Jesup., GA. Born in Hickox, GA, her parents were James Richard Franklin "Frank" and Harriet Ludicy Ammons Hickox. She was also preceded in death by husband, Elias B. Herrin; 2 daughters, Norma Kay Crews O'Berry; Beatrice Crews, and 1 son Jimmy Herrin. 9 sisters, Ethel Johns, Agnes Johns, Katie Griffin DeBerry, Pearl Griffin, Myrtle Douglas, Irene Crews, Annie Walker, Leola Walker, and Lois Crews. 1 brother, J.D. Hickox. Idell was a retired Brantley County School Nutrition Department Manager and a member of Hickox Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and baking bread. Survivors include 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Dewayne Franklin Herrin (Sheryl) of Jesup; E.B. Herrin (Emily) of Camden Co., Don Herrin (Mary) of Hickox, J.R. Herrin (Shirley) of Hickox; 5 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Crews Lee of Hickox, Janice Huling (Robert) of Folkston, Bobby Johnson of Hickox, Carolyn Edgy of Hickox, and Iva Lee Thrift (Lamar) of Hickox. 33 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren. 1 sister, Mary Lou Flynn of Stark, FL., and several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A visitation will be held Saturday evening (February 8, 2014) at 6 PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday afternoon (February 9, 2014) at 3 PM at Hickox Baptist Church with Dr. Derrell W. Rentz, Rev. Vance Colley, Bro. Paul Barker, and Dr. Brad Ellington officiating. Buiral will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Hickox, Ga. Pallbearers will be Justin Johns, Arnold O'Berry, Derrick Herrin, Dallas Herrin, Johnnie Roy Herrin, Michael White, Jarrett Johns and Nick Prescott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lula Mae Robinson, Effie Mae Dunham, and the men's and women's Sunday School Class of Hickox Baptist and Screven First Baptist. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at www.fryefh.com.
