Benjamin Franklin Chesser

Benjamin Franklin Chesser, 83, of Jacksonville, FL died suddenly Wednesday morning (May 12, 2010) at Shands Jacksonville after a brief illness. Born in Hoboken, GA his parents were William Charlie and Lucy Aldridge Chesser. He is also preceded in death by 6 brothers, Fred, Isaac, Sam, John, Virgil and Clyde Chesser; 4 sisters, Leona Johns,Lucille Chesser,Melissa Chesser and Stella Johnson and an infant brother. Franklin was a retired foreman for Owens Corning Fiber Glass and was a member of Franklin Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. He loved dancing and loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He always had a smile and kind word to share. Survivors include his wife of 65yrs, Aline Moore Chesser of Jacksonville, FL; 5 children and their spouses, Steve Franklin & Pat Chesser of Kings Port, TN, Nicky Tyrone & Evelise DeJesus Chesser ,of Middleburgs, FL, Joy & Jim Knight of Jacksonville, FL, Brenda & James Horne of Palm Beach, FL and Jay Allen Chesser of Jacksonville, FL; 13 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (May 14, 2010) from 6-8 PM at Franklin Street Baptist Church, 2521 Franklin St., Jacksonville, FL. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning (May 15, 2010) at 11 AM from Franklin Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL with Rev. Terry Gore and Rev. James Horne officiating. Burial will be Saturday afternoon (May 15, 2010)at 3:30 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery, Raybon Rock Rd., in Nahunta, GA. Pallbearers will be Alexsa Chesser, Misty Koury, Seline DiaGiacolo, Sonya Raulerson, Pam Chesser, Dana Moore Hendrix and Lori Weise. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Chesser, Clyde Chesser, Billy Moore, Robert Moore, Joey Howard and Lester Chesser. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta, GA.
